EM_GETHANDLE
An
application sends an EM_GETHANDLE message to retrieve a handle of the memory
currently allocated for a multiline edit control s text.
EM_GETHANDLE
wParam = 0; // not used; must be zero
lParam = 0; // not used; must be zero
Parameters
This message
has no parameters.
Return Values
The return
value is a memory handle identifying the buffer that holds the content of the
edit control. If an error occurs, such as sending the message to a single-line
edit control, the return value is zero.
Remarks
In a 16-bit
Windows-based application, the handle is a local memory handle and can be used
only by functions that take a local memory handle as a parameter. The
application can send this message to a multiline edit control in a dialog box
only if it created the dialog box with the DS_LOCALEDIT style flag set. If the
DS_LOCALEDIT style is not set, the return value is still nonzero, but the
return value will not be meaningful.
